The Purpose Behind the Establishment

AFRIFASS CIC was established as a means of bridging cultural gaps, safeguarding children, and addressing the challenges arising from multiple identities in response to the increasing number of families from African and other minority groups migrating to the United Kingdom. Many households are grappling with difficulties stemming from identity crises and a lack of understanding of parenting norms in the UK.

There has been a significant rise in the number of African and minority families migrating from various parts of Europe to the United Kingdom in recent years, subsequently experiencing cultural shock in terms of expectations placed on them as parents and the differing safeguarding policies and processes within the UK. This surge has resulted in the overpopulation of black and ethnic minority children subject to Child Protection Plans and placement in the Local Authorities/Trusts care system.

Some of these families have children with multiple identities, having been born in Africa And Asia, moved to countries like Italy, Spain, Germany, etc., for years, and then relocated to the UK due to challenges faced by their children in fulfilling their aspirations or limitations experienced in their education. These children often undergo identity crises and must embrace their unique identities.

More recently, with a push to recruit internationally for the Health and Care Sector in the UK, several families have moved to the UK from Asia and Africa in search of a better life. These families have little to no understanding of the UK’s expectations regarding parental responsibilities and the laws governing child safeguarding. They have migrated from countries with different cultures, norms, and expectations of what constitutes safe parenting.

AFRIFASS’ CICs goal is to offer professionals all-encompassing assistance and direction to help you and your family to improve your knowledge and abilities, which will result in a service that is both more appropriate and more efficient. This is referred to as “cross-agency support.”
